All our walks are circular. We like our venue to have facilities available to our walkers before setting off (normally a pub or café). We usually stay for lunch after the walk, but this is optional. We walk mainly in Northamptonshire, but occasionally visit our neighbouring counties. We are a very sociable club and regularly stop to admire a view, look at wildlife and have a break at roughly the halfway point for a snack and drink. Our pace is that of our slowest walker and we aim to finish our walks as a group. We like to put a report of each walk with some photos on our website – just select ‘Walk Reports’ on the left hand panel and select the year and month entry.
Newcomers of all ages are always welcome and a "newbie" can turn up on the day of the walk - we ask £2 for our public liability insurance. We take a roster of walkers, so the person with the clipboard will be delighted to take your name and introduce you to the walk leader, who will in turn introduce you to the group during the pre-walk spiel. Or, a new walker can contact our Secretary ahead of the walk and our walk leader will be notified. To contact our Secretary use this address:
We walk on the third Sunday of the month from January to November, meeting at 10am for a 10.30am start. Also, from May to August we walk on the first Thursday of the month, meeting at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. On Sundays our walks are up to 5 miles lasting 2 to 2.5 hours depending on terrain and weather, whilst on Thursdays our walks are around 3 miles lasting about 1.5 hours. Every walk has a walk leader who will have reccied our route and will advise our walkers of stiles, hills, muddy paths, places of interest etc before we set off. We always have a backmarker to ensure nobody gets left behind. Information on our forthcoming walks can be found by selecting ‘Walk Program’ on the left hand panel.
